Clearing the Credential

The Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) is an avenue that satisfies the requirement for all teachers to "clear their credential." It is the responsibility for all teachers who desire to perfect their teaching career throughout the State of California.  However, BTSA completion does not automatically lead to a clear credential.

A clear credential is obtained when a teacher has successfully completed 45 units who hold a preliminary credential. The BTSA courses are applied to the 45 unit requirement and successful completion of the four  BTSA courses will provide the teacher 16 unit credits towards their 45 unit requirement. Each teacher may be at a different point in their status toward completing the required 45 units.

However, through TFSCS connection to the University of California San Diego, we are establishing for each TFSCS teacher, an individual status of how many units they have and what's needed to complete the 45 . Unit state requirement for a clear credential. Moreover, there are timelines to complete the 45 units, to clear their credential.  This will also be provided to each teacher. Vital Learning for Professional Growth

Vital Learning for Professional Growth

The second goal of the TFSCS effort in helping to fully credential its teachers is to provide vital training to give each teacher the expertise they will need to successfully meet their own requirements, and the TFSCS goals of providing an outstanding educational program to every student so they may gain skills they will need to pursue their future goals of success in high school, college, and the workplace.

Impacting Student Achievement

To help ensure that each teacher is getting the most out of their learning experience, TFSCS held a series of regular professional growth seminars in which teachers will have the opportunity to share and exchange what they’ve learned and their ‘best practices’ for applying the knowledge and strategies into their daily lessons and its impact on student achievement.  These seminars are critical for ensuring that learning is reinforced and applied to the daily classroom.

We are quite fortunate that we have large enough intact groups enrolled in the BTSA program whereby we are able to ‘customize’ key learning to fit our specific and unique challenges here at TFSCS.  TFSCS teachers have opportunities throughout the program to provide input and feedback into new lessons that will benefit teachers and  colleagues.
